Who we are

ExamUncle (examuncle.com) is run by AIGOCO (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described here. Questions about it go to [email protected].

What we collect

When you create an account

• Your name and email address.
• Your password, stored only as a one-way hash. We can't read it and will never ask you for it.
• Whether you have confirmed your email address.

When you practise

• The tests you start, your answers, your scores and when you took them.
• What you write in Writing tasks, and the feedback generated for it.

When you buy a pass

• The plan you bought, the price, the payment status and the reference numbers from our payment provider. Your card or bank details go straight to the payment provider; we never see or store them.

When you use the site

• Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the time of each request, which our servers record to keep the service running and secure.
• How the site is used: pages visited, buttons clicked, tests started and submitted, scores, purchases, and your device, browser and approximate location. We collect this with Google Analytics to understand what works and improve the service. It is linked to your account by an ID number only, never your name or email, and never includes your answers or anything you write.

When you contact us

• Your email and whatever you choose to tell us, so we can reply and help.

How we use it

• To run your account: sign you in, confirm your email and reset your password.
• To run your practice: save your answers as you go, mark tests, show explanations and keep your history.
• To give you access you paid for, and keep the records we need for accounting and tax.
• To produce anonymous statistics: other learners may see a test's average score, a score distribution and how many people got each question right. These use first attempts only, appear only once enough learners have taken a test, and never show your name or email.
• To rate tests Easy, Medium or Hard from how learners score on them.
• To send emails you need: confirming your address, resetting your password and similar. We don't send marketing emails.
• To answer your messages, and to prevent abuse such as repeated failed sign-ins.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with providers that help us run the service, and only what each one needs:

• Dodo Payments processes payments and sends your receipt. Your payment is also covered by Dodo's own privacy policy.
• Resend delivers our emails, so it receives your email address and the email's content.
• OpenRouter and the AI model provider it connects to receive the text of your Writing responses and the task, to generate practice feedback. We don't send your name or email with it.
• Google Analytics receives the usage information described above. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalisation, so it isn't used for advertising.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers, which store the data on our behalf.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our users or the service. We don't sell personal data or share it for advertising.

Some of these providers process data outside your country. When they do, we rely on the safeguards they offer for international transfers.

Cookies and storage on your device

• One sign-in cookie keeps you signed in. It is essential, can't be read by scripts on the page, and lasts up to 30 days or until you sign out.
• Unsaved answers are kept in your browser's local storage if your connection drops, so nothing is lost. They are cleared once they reach our servers.
• Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) are set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart and count them. They last up to two years; you can clear or block them in your browser at any time without affecting how the site works.

We don't use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

• Account and practice data: while your account is open. Ask us to delete it at any time.
• Payment records: as long as accounting and tax law require, even after your account is deleted.
• Email links (confirmation and password reset) expire and work once. The copy we keep to send an email is deleted once it has been sent.
• Messages to support: as long as needed to help you, and then for a reasonable period in case you follow up.

How we protect it

Passwords are hashed, sign-in cookies are protected from page scripts, email links are single-use and time limited, and queued emails are encrypted. Changing or resetting your password signs out your other devices. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and will tell you if a breach affects you.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• get a copy of your personal data;
• correct it (you can change your name yourself in Profile);
• have it deleted;
• object to or restrict how we use it; and
• complain to your local data protection authority.

To use any of these, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We may need to confirm it's you before acting. We won't charge you for a reasonable request.

Children

ExamUncle is for people preparing for exams such as IELTS and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you by email or in your dashboard.
